Apple releases update for iOS, macOS to fix Meltdown and Spectre Security Flaws

Couple of days back, Google’s project zero team reported Meltdown and Spectre security flaws in major chips. These two vulnerabilities allow hackers to bypass the computer hardware’s security barrier for accessing user data. On Thursday, Apple had said that there were no known instances of hackers taking the advantage of the vulnerabilities, also a security patch update is on its way for their devices.

While Google, Microsoft has issued updates to fix Spectre and Meltdown issues, also recently Firebox has issued a updated which comes with protection against the attacks. Recently Apple has released an update for iOS and MacOS protect their devices against meltdown and spectre security flaws.

To install the latest version of iOS update in your device, simply go to settings>General>software update and follow on-screen instructions. Use a stable and fast internet connectivity to start downloading the update file and make sure you’ve at least 60% charge left on your device. This new iOS 11.2.2 update is available for all the latest iPhones (iPhone5s and later), iPads (iPad Air and later)and iPods (iphod touch 6th gen or later). The update includes latest Safari browser and webkit to prevent meltdown and sepctre attacks on iOS devices.

Also the macOS sierra 10.13.2 update comes with security fixes and improvements including the latest safari v11.0.2 browser and Webkit to fix the vulnerabilities of Meltdown and spectre. Visit the Mac app store, to install MacOS siera 10.13.2 update. This latest version of safari browser is also available for OS X EI Capitan 10.11.6 users. All users are advised to updated their devices to be on the safe side from the effects of meltdown and spectre on their iPhones/ iPads / iPods.
