Last year the Mukesh Ambani Backed Company, Reliance Jio Introduced JioPhone, which is still one of the most affordable 4G phones in the market. JioPhone received a huge response from audience with over 60,00,000 pre-orders. This device Runs on a Linux based operating system called KaiOS, it only supports a few number of apps that were not enough to fulfill customer’s requirements and jio’s digital vision.
Current Report suggests that Jio already halted the production of JioPhones. And the company is looking forward to launch an Android version of jiophone. As per rumors, Chipset Manufacturer MediaTek and Google would be working with Jio to develop the Android version of jioPhone. Moreover JioPhone Android Version is expected to run on Android Oreo Go edition. The new Go edition of Android is specially designed to run on devices that have less than 1GB RAM and low Internal storage.
Also recently Jio invested into the development of KaiOS to bring popular apps like Whatsapp on jioPhone. But the new one will be running on Android or not, that’s not confirmed by the company, according to a jio spokesperson the company is working to develop a special version for jioPhone that will support a bucket of apps and will deliver moderate services. MicroMax is about to launch its affordable 4G devices like Bharat Go. Also many affordable smartphone like Nokia 1 Android Go is launched in the market.
Reliance Jio has over 175 Million users in its 4G VoLTE network. And jioPhone only supports Jio 4G VoLTE network, so jio might not want to disappoint its users with a backdated device. Earlier JioPhone was available for a initial down payment of 1,500 which is completely refundable after 3 years. And JioPhone Android version is likely to be cost around 2,000 – 2,500 Rupees.
