Learn to Code Javascript using Grasshopper, An App From Google’s Area120 Incubator

Area 120, Google’s incubator for experimental products has just launched a new app called Grasshopper: Learn to Code for Free. The app aims to teach beginners how to write real javascript for free via short lessons. It’ll only take just 5 minutes a day to learn basic fundamentals of programming such as variables, operators, functions, strings, arrays, objects, etc. – the app claims. It allows anyone with or without any prior experience in coding to jump right in and have fun along the way.

It’s currently available to download for iOS and Android users. This app is totally free, moreover there are no ads and any kind of in app purchase isn’t required so far. You would need to sign in with your Google account with the grasshopper app. The app is similar to Duolingo, that helps to learn new languages with fun games and quizzes. Upon installing, first Grasshopper app will guide you through some basic quiz questions about coding, then it’ll teach how to write java-scripts though puzzles and a series of lessons.


You’ll be able to visualize puzzles by putting Java script codes together. As you progress in the app, you can enter code strings manually using the app. Also at the end, you’ll be able to create and run your own java-scripts.
