As per an article published on XDA, LG is planning to launch an upgraded version of V30 instead of G7, which debuted back on 31 August,2017. According to a report in the Korea Herald, the upgraded version of LG V30 will be made focusing on improved Artificial Intelligence capabilities.
If a new version of the V30 is announced at MWC 2018 next month, the launch of the G7 could come months after, the report noted.
It would be called LG V30+a . LG’s mobile division has been struggling for a while with a $331 million loss in Q3 of 2017. Jo Seong-Jin, LG Electronics CEO said at the CES 2018 event,“We will unveil new smartphones when it is needed. But we will not launch it just because other rivals do”. It means LG would no longer launch smartphones on a yearly basis, and would instead launch them when needed and they consider rebranding its G series lineup. Mr. Seong-Jin at CES said at CES 2018 that the company needed a way to “maintain the existing platforms” longer, which appears to be a part of LG’s new strategy to keep around high-end phones for longer time period.
Reportedly LG will unveil the improved LG V30 instead of launching new models from it’s G Flagship series for now. Also the upgraded version of V30 is likely to have AI based Google Assistant Features.
While the upgraded version of LG V30 is going to launch in the MWC 2018 event, rumors claim that LG is rebuilding the LG G7 which would be launched in the upcoming months. Currently there are two models of the V30 – the V30+ and the standard variant. Also as per the company itself, LG would be launching more new variant of the existing smartphones.
