After the launch of Jio’s 4G LTE network, jio fiber has been the most most awaited service from Jio. And currently jio is working to lay out fiber optics in different parts of the country to roll out Jiofiber broadband service. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of reliance industries had earlier this year said that optical fiber and fixed-line broadband is a next big monetisation opportunity for Reliance Jio. Currently Jio has rolled out 300,000 kilometers of optic fiber across the country with the help of its contract with Reliance Communications. JioFiber aims to deliver internet speeds of up to at a speed 1GBps at a minimal cost. According to a Telecomtalk.info report, the reliance jio’s JioFiber broadband service will go live in just few weeks and users will be able to experience high speed broadband service by the end of march.
Currently Jio 4G network has more than 160 milion active users in its network, with its effective cheap plans the company is adding more new users in its network daily. As per previously leaked details, jio could offer 100GB data per month at 100 Mbps speed for first three months. It is reported that under trial service jio is providing a special router, which connects multiple devices that offers high speed internet connectivity across your home with a refundable deposit of Rs 4,500. With a multi-service operator (MSO) licence in place, it will also offer TV services.
Reliance jio wants to to expand its optic fiber network in the country to target 50 million households in the first phase of the rollout, the ultimate plan is to add 100 million customer as early as possible. Testing of jiofiber broadband service had begun in September 2016, Right now jiofiber net has been rolled out for testing in few residential localities across 10 cities including Delhi-NCR, Ahmeddabad & Mumbai. With the high speed jiofiber broadband service, users will be able to connect multiple devices and enjoy 4K content with its super fast internet speed. Apart from Jiofiber, reliance jio could launch Jio’s DTH services which will offer more than 360 channels at a low cost.
