While just a few weeks back Samsung unveiled its latest flagship devices – Samsung galaxy s9 and galaxy s9+, it’s too early but several rumors about the upcoming Samsung galaxy S10 has already started surfacing online. Thursday South Korean outlet The Bell reported that The Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup would feature a Notchless 3D camera setup for depth sensing capabilities.

A well known Israeli based startup named as Mantis Vision which is popular in the filed of high-end 3D scanners for mobile devices, will develop the conventional 3D camera setup technology for Samsung galaxy S10. While Mantis Vision won’t carry out the whole operation alone, it will collaborate with Namuga, a Seongnam, South Korea-based imaging firm which also specializes in 3D sensing technologies, to fulfill the task. Namuga has been a long time camera supplier for Samsung’s entry-level and mid-range devices. Also Intel’s RealSense augmented reality cameras are equipped with Namuga’s hardware.

Mantis Vision was founded in 2005, and the company already received an investment from Samsung in 2014 when the tech giant and Singaporean Flextronics injected $10 million combined into the startup. During the MWC 2018, Samsung launched their latest flagships and Mantis Vision also attended the event, but the two companies haven’t announced anything about their collaboration with each other.

DJ Koh, Samsung’s mobile chief said that the company recently changed its focus from industry firsts to ensuring every new addition to its devices is refined and benefits consumers in an optimal manner. As per reports, Samsung is planning to integrate Mantis Vision’s 3D sensor array into the front-facing camera of the Galaxy S10 instead of opting for a standalone solution. It would help Samsung to save physical space and avoid a scenario in which it has to design a phone with a display notch or a bezel that’s thicker than the one found on the other flagships. The Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup devices are expected to launch in the MWC – Mobile World Congress Event of 2019.
